International Adoption Information - Restrictions & Requirements
Despite what the professionals might say (and they can be
forgiven for this) there isn’t much that is easy about
adopting and certainly not with regards to
International Adoption. Wonderfully rewarding it may be but not
necessarily easy. The one fact that might be the easiest of
all to assimilate is the knowledge despite all that may be
thrown at us that we want to be adoptive parents.
When you then throw into this mix, the factor of
International Adoption, then the results can be that much
more challenging. There are (by necessity) documents to fill
out, assessments, visits, travel arrangements to be made and
aware of and especially (and correctly so) analysis of why
you wish to go down this road.
For someone to adopt internationally it is an absolute must
that you respect and observe the laws and regulations of the
Country that you live in and those of the Country that you
wish to adopt a child from. Each different Country has its
own requirements that they need to be met and prospective
adoptive parents must be made aware of this. These usually
consist of (but not always) the age of the prospective
parent, their income, the number of existing children in the
family. Occasionally there are certain requirements
regarding marital stability (number of divorces, years
married etc) and where the application is made by single
persons, information regarding gender.
Certain countries have more detailed requirements and
